Three years of creative inspiration from Somerset Film...

The way we make, distribute, receive and exchange art is radically changing through the power of digital technology.

Ignite Somerset is a brand new three-year programme supported by Arts Council England and delivered by Somerset Film. It is dedicated to enabling arts makers and audiences in Somerset harness the new opportunities afforded through digital technology to create and experience greater artistic excellence and innovation.

Over the next three years Somerset Film and the team at the Engine Room will bring their skills and experience to support artists from six genres – theatre, literature, music, visual arts, dance and combined arts. We’re offering dedicated digital training and surgeries across the county and we’ll build shared online/digital resources.

Over each six-month period we’ll dedicate our resources to a different art form – from June to September we’ll focus on theatre and performance. If you’re an actor, performer or work backstage, or if you’re part of a carnival team or amateur society, Ignite Somerset can help you expand your knowledge and skill.

We kick off with introductory information session for all interested theatre and performance practitioners on Monday 11 June at The Engine Room 1.00> 8.00pm. Drop by for all or part of the session to let us know how we can help you achieve your digital aspirations and to register for the LAUNCH workshop with Forkbeard Fantasy and The Engine Room team on Monday 18 June 10.15am > 4.15pm – strictly book ahead only. Maximum 8 people at each workshop – Content will be suitable for beginners at all workshops but may vary slightly dependent on demand. Follow-up advice and supplementary training will be offered through a series of book ahead surgeries…

*Deposit of £10 required on booking for all Ignite activities, returnable on attendance on the day.

Digital Surgeries

FREE follow-up 2 hour Digital Surgeries for theatre + performance practitioners on the following Mondays between 10.00> 5.00pm – advance booking essential.

25/28 June | 9/12 July
13/16/20/23 August | 3/6/17/20 Sept

Surgeries will address both the technical and creative aspects of the work and are for single practitioners or small groups. They are primarily intended to provide follow up to the workshops.
